getting over perfection

-- rhodonite, tiger's eye --

setting out to make something wonderful and perfect is a tough goal and will ruin a painting before it's even started! letting that go and enjoying the effect of smudges made this piece go in a different direction and the process more enjoyable. art -- it's a microcosm! who knew?

Oh Joy! Another woman who reads Patrick O'Brien, wonderful. I've never mate anyone but men and they like it for different reasons (blood and gore). I do enjoy all the tactical bits and but it's the old boats, nautical discoveries and humour that I really love. Not sure which book it's in but I still laugh about the line "you debauched my sloth!"

You guessed! Yey. Venice and Santa Monica, home sweet home 20yrs ago. I'm too tired to post on my blog today, but when i do i'll let people know you guessed right. Liz also guessed the Marina Del Ray photo cause she bought her car there years ago.

Enjoy your week, and be happy knowing that our chat has got me picking up the O'Brian books again, I was reading by torchlight till 5am last night/this morning, snickering at the funny bits.

I can't really explain it but your work just makes me tear up. You must be working truthfully. You must be showing your soul.

Me again!
Just read your comment with the sad news. So sorry to hear. I meant to take the camera when I walked Lucy today, to get some photo's of Scottish hills and fields... but I forgot, sorry. But I was thinking of our Scottish connection as I walked.
